Sunflower

From bud...
Sunflower Bud

To blossom...
Sunflower Blossom

And while this is not the exact flower as the bud, it is one on the same sunflower plant, a branching variety that grows wild around here.

We've been known to transplant them into our garden, but this one is growing behind our fence just out of reach of the mower.

Wildflowers are the best, don't you think?

Clothed by God.

A reminder of His care for us.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin,
yet I tell you,
even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.

But if God so clothes the grass of the field,
which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
will he not much more clothe you,
O you of little faith?

Matthew 6:28-29 (ESV)

  1. Most of the country roads used to be lined with sunflowers, and I loved seeing their bright faces when I came home after a long day. I wonder if they are still allowed to grow or if the road grader cuts them off.

    1. A country road lined with sunflowers...I can just picture how pretty that would be.

  2. I had sunflowers this summer too and I loved watching the buds opening...almost as must as I like flower unfurled. I did a post earlier this summer with photos of just the buds...loved this!

    1. The bud in the photo was so close to opening...I liked the way a couple of the petals were peeking out. If it hadn't started raining, I would have gone back to take progress pictures throughout the day.
